We are a Pune-based studio building a slow, sustainable home decor brand — one handcrafted piece at a time. Everything we make is rooted in Indian artistry, made by skilled hands, and designed for homes with a story.
We start where great craft begins — with the right material.
We source the finest fabrics from across India. Pure cotton from Rajasthan and Gujarat. Handloom weaves from Bengal and Odisha. Hand block-printed fabric from the ateliers of Jaipur. We are selective about every thread — because what a product is made from is as important as how it is made.
From these exceptional materials, we design our own collections in-house. 80% of what you see on Varsaca is designed and made by us — conceived in our studio, crafted in our workshop, finished by hand. The remaining 20% is carefully curated — handpicked from artisan partners across India whose work we believe in deeply.
Our Pune workshop is entirely women-led. Every woman here is a skilled artisan — cutting, stitching, painting, embroidering and finishing each piece with the kind of care that only hands can bring.
Beyond our own workshop, we work with artisan partner families across multiple Indian states — block printers in Jaipur, kantha embroiderers in Bengal, jute weavers in Odisha, hand painters in Maharashtra — extending our reach while keeping craft at the centre.
We also take bespoke orders. If you have an idea — a specific colour, a pattern, a size, a piece of art you have been imagining for your home — we will conceptualise it with you and bring it to life exactly as you envisioned. No brief is too specific. No vision too particular.
Everything we make is sustainable, handmade and rooted in Indian artistry. Our mission is simple — to bring the best of India's craft tradition into modern Indian homes, and to ensure the hands that make it are supported, celebrated and fairly paid.
Every Varsaca product is made using traditional Indian craft techniques passed down through generations. Here are the art forms at the heart of our collections:
One of India's oldest textile traditions. Carved wooden blocks are dipped in natural or fabric dye and pressed onto fabric by hand — repeat by repeat, row by row. Each impression is slightly unique, giving block-printed fabric its characteristic warmth and character that machine printing can never replicate.
Kalamkari — meaning 'pen work' — is an ancient technique of drawing and painting on fabric using a bamboo pen and natural dyes. Originating in Andhra Pradesh, it tells stories of mythology, nature and everyday life through intricate hand-drawn motifs. We use Kalamkari-inspired designs across our cushion covers, wall art and table linen collections.
Our hand-painted collection draws from India's rich folk art traditions — most notably Madhubani, a centuries-old painting style from Bihar characterised by geometric patterns, bold outlines and vibrant colour inspired by nature, mythology and daily life. We take inspiration from these traditions and translate them into contemporary fabric designs — painted freehand by our artisans using fabric-safe colours.
We source handloom fabric directly from weaving clusters across India — where weavers sit at traditional looms and create fabric thread by thread. Handloom fabric has a texture, breathability and warmth that power looms simply cannot produce. It forms the base of many of our sofa covers, cushion covers and bed linen collections.
Needle, thread and patience. Hand embroidery transforms plain fabric into something extraordinary — adding texture, dimension and storytelling through stitch. We use several embroidery traditions across our collections including Kantha — a Bengali technique of layered running stitches — as well as thread embroidery for florals, geometric motifs and custom designs.
Using a single hooked needle and yarn or thread, our artisans create intricate crochet pieces — from table mats and coasters to wall hangings and decorative accents. Crocheting requires extraordinary patience and skill — each piece is made loop by loop, entirely by hand. Our crochet collection brings a warm, handmade texture to modern homes.
Jute — India's golden fibre — is hand-woven into placemats,
rugs, wall art and decorative pieces by skilled craftspeople
in eastern India. One of the most sustainable natural
materials available, jute is biodegradable, locally grown
and extraordinarily durable. Our jute pieces celebrate this
humble fibre in its most beautiful form — woven, shaped and
sometimes hand-painted into home decor that lasts for years.
The Jaipuri razai is one of India's most beloved bedding
traditions — an impossibly light quilt filled with pure
desi cotton, hand block-printed on the outside and machine
or hand stitched to hold the fill in place. Made in Jaipur
for centuries, these quilts are warm in winter, breathable
in summer and beautiful year-round. We source and make our
Jaipuri quilts using traditional fill techniques and our
own hand block-printed fabric designs.
Godhadhi is a traditional Maharashtrian quilt made by
layering and stitching together old fabric — sarees, dupattas,
worn clothing — into something warm, new and deeply personal.
It is the original slow fashion. Nothing is wasted. Every
layer carries a memory. Our Godhadhi-inspired pieces honour
this tradition of making beauty from what already exists —
sustainable by nature, meaningful by design.
Appliqué is the art of stitching cut fabric shapes onto a
base cloth to create patterns, motifs and scenes. Flowers,
birds, geometric shapes, abstract forms — each element is
cut by hand, placed with care and stitched down with precision.
The result is fabric with depth, colour and texture that
cannot be achieved by printing alone. We use appliqué across
our cushion covers, wall hangings and bespoke art pieces.
Patchwork is the craft of joining small pieces of fabric —
different colours, textures, patterns — into a larger whole.
No two patchwork pieces are alike. Each is a composition,
a decision made stitch by stitch. We use patchwork in our
sofa covers, cushion covers and quilts — combining handloom,
block-printed and plain fabrics into pieces that are
visually rich and completely unique.

Our Artisans
Behind every Varsaca product is a pair of skilled hands. We work with artisan families across India — most of them women — who have been practising their craft for generations. These are not factory workers. They are artists.
Our Pune workshop is entirely women-led. We provide employment, skill development and fair wages to women artisans who work with us full-time. Beyond our workshop, we have artisan partners across multiple Indian states who work with us as collaborators — bringing their regional craft expertise to our collections.
When you buy from Varsaca, you are not just buying a product. You are buying someone's livelihood. You are supporting a skill that might otherwise disappear. You are choosing craft over convenience.
